Food recalls in EU – Week 33
This week on the RASFF database (Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed) we can’t find any recall from consumers in EU.
Between the alert notifications, we can find two withdrawals from the market:
- Residues of veterinary medicinal products: prohibited substance chloramphenicol in feed premixtures, following an official control on the market. Origin France, distributed also to Germany.
- Foreign bodies: metal pieces in ice cream, following a consumer complaint. Origin Italy, distributed also to Greece.
Amongst the information for attention, there is a notification followed by a seizure:
- Mycotoxins: aflatoxins in roasted diced hazelnut kernels, following an official control on the market. Origin Turkey, distributed to Germany.
Regarding border rejections we have absence of health certificate and absence of certified analytical report for peanuts from India, aflatoxins in pistachio nuts with shell from Turkey, too high content of colour E 124 – Ponceau 4R / cochineal red A in strawberry granita powder from Israel, unauthorised use of colour E 124 – Ponceau 4R / cochineal red A in strawberry flavour in powder from Israel, unauthorised colour E 128 – Red 2G in chewy candies with raspberry aroma from Turkey, Salmonella spp. (presence /25g) in paan leaves from India and unauthorised genetically modified frozen chocolate cake from China.
