𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐒 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝-𝐝𝐲𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠

Following the programme launched in April 2025, the FDA has implemented an institutional monitoring platform. It tracks food-industry commitments to phase out petroleum-derived synthetic dyes.

The scope covers FD&C Green No. 3, Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6, Blue No. 1 and Blue No. 2.

The objective is their complete removal from the US market by the end of 2027. The FDA has also begun reviewing Orange B and Citrus Red No. 2, following the revocation of Red No. 3.

The tool includes major actors in the North American market. The commitments differ substantially in both scope and timetable. They range from redesigning entire US portfolios to targeted action on categories, private labels, or K-12 lines. Many adaptation processes remain under way, while several businesses have already completed reformulation.
