EUDR scope expanded

The EUDR Regulation (EU 2023/1115) targets greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity loss by promoting โ€˜deforestation-freeโ€™ products. While aimed at reducing the EU's global deforestation impact, it will affect data management, supply chains, raw material costs, and certification integrity. The recent Commission Delegated Regulation (EU 2026/2102) expands the range of products impacted.

The new EUDR methodology for assessing cocoa deforestation risk, developed by the World Cocoa Foundation and collaborators, includes seven components such as data collection, forest baseline definition, and verification. It aligns with EU regulations, emphasizing sustainable practices and smallholder protection.
