PFAS control is moving upstream from the food on the shelf to the feed, water, soil, and packaging.

The EU Commission has introduced Recommendation (EU) 2026/1307 for monitoring perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in feed, potentially extending to soil and drinking water. Member States must monitor four key PFAS compounds from 2026 to 2028. Data must be submitted to EFSA by June 2029, adhering to strict sampling and analysis methods.
