On May 29, 2026, the Celiac Safety Act of 2026 (H.R. 9048) was introduced to amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, expanding "major food allergens" to include all gluten-containing grains. This aims to enhance protections for people with celiac disease, aligning US regulations more closely with EU standards.
