Webinar – Mandatory Environmental Labeling for Italy Explained (21st Oct 2021)

From 1st Jan 2022 all the packaging (B2B and B2C) placed on the market in Italy – even if produced in other EU Member States – shall be marked with:

– the code of the material under Decision 129/97/EC;
– the indication about the correct disposal (B2C only).

This obligation is having a huge impact on domestic and foreign food and food packaging manufacturers. The law is extremely concise, while hundreds of pages of guidance and Q&A have been drafted by the collection and recycling organizations (e.g. CONAI).
The entry into force of this law raises also questions on its compatibility with EU law.
