Food recalls in EU – Week 46

This week on the RASFF database (Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed) we can’t find any recall from consumers in EU, between the alert notifications:

Between the information for follow-up and information for attention notifications, followed by a recall of the product, we find:

– Defective packaging in baby food pouches, following a company’s own check. Origin United States, notification from United Kingdom, distributed also to Ireland;

– Pathogenic micro-organisms: Listeria monocytogenes in grated cheese and cheese strips, following company’s own check. Origin and notification from Germany;

– Allergens: undeclared gluten in buckwheat flour, following a consumer complaint. Origin Bosnia and Herzegovina, notification from Slovenia.

Between the alert notifications, followed by a withdrawal from the market of the product:

– Pathogenic micro-organisms: Salmonella in various meat preparations containing poultry minced meat , following company’s own check. Origin and notification from France, distributed also to Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg;

– Pathogenic micro-organisms: Salmonella Typhimurium in chilled turkey meat, following company’s own check. Origin and notification from France, distributed also to Switzerland;

Pathogenic micro-organisms: Salmonella Typhimurium in frozen meat ball mass, following an official control on the market. Origin Lithuania, notification from Latvia;

– Pathogenic micro-organisms: too high count of Escherichia coli in live clams (Venus verrucosa), following an official control on the market. Origin Greece, notification from Italy.

– Allergens: undeclared milk ingredient in soft biscuit, following an official control on the market. Origin Poland, notification from Czech Republic;

Regarding border rejections we have, among the others, Salmonella in frozen ark clams from Vietnam, in frozen turkey meat preparation from Brazil, Salmonella spp. in fishmeal from Mauritania, in paan leaves from Bangladesh and in soybean meal from Argentina, Salmonella Lexington and Anatum in rape seed cake from Russia, Salmonella group C in frozen clams from Vietnam, aflatoxins in almonds from Australia, in groundnuts from Senegal, India (via Egypt) and Nicaragua, in chillies from India and in dried figs from Turkey, unauthorised placing on the market of cannend yanang leaves extract from Thailand, sulfamethazine unauthorised in flower comb honey from Turkey, Bacillus spp. in bean curd from China, endosulfan in yardlong beans from the Dominican Republic, carbendazim in fresh peppers from Turkey and in parboiled basmati rice from India, trimethoprim unauthorised in frozen tilapia fillets from Vietnam and phoxim in wheat gluten from China.

For food contact material we have only a border rejection for migration of chromium on steel strainers from China.
